Motovun is a town-monument, an ancient Istrian acropolis town located atop a 277 metre high hill, whose present appearance dates back to the Middle Ages, from the 12th and 13th century. Leading to the top of the hill and its Venetian town square is the longest Istrian staircase, with 1052 steps. In the center of Motovun is situated traditional attached house in excellent condition with total floor area of 400 m2.
The house itself was buit in the old Venetian style of the 17th century (around 1621) and it is included in he list of protected cultural assets. It leans up against the town walls dating back to the 13th century, visible and well preserved in one part of the bathroom featuring a 400-year old stone toilette.
The house includes a ground floor, three floors, an attic with terrace as well as a number of fitted cupboards and authentic roofing. The ground floor comprises two large wine cellars, linked by a lobby and a bathroom with a shower. An authentic stone staircase leads to the upper floors from the entrance. It is easily divisible into two/three or more sections with its wide corridors and three separate entrances. This is a perfect house to convert into a commercial facility such as a Bed & Breakfast.The house is tastefully furnished throughout, featuring a host of authentic Istrian pieces of furniture, centuries-old oil-storage basins etc.
